Let me pull at your heartstrings for a minute and share with you this Romantic Des Moines Wedding. I’ve had several messages from people wanting to see a full wedding gallery, to give them hope for their weddings being postponed due to COVID-19. When I first thought of what wedding I wanted to share, the McDonald’s immediately came to mind.
When I first met Darian she sent me a dm on Instagram asking for pricing for a June 15, 2019 wedding in Winterset, Iowa. She found me on instagram through hashtags, I always hated having to use hashtags in my posts but this time it proved to be effective.
Darian is the sweetest human and the love between her and Nick is so inspiring. They met almost 8 years ago now and have been inseparable ever since.
How did they meet?
We were both working as lifeguards at our hometown swimming pool. We were both working the night swim, and I remember, Nick switched with one of the other guards so that he could rotate next to me for the shift. Nick and I stood next to the diving board chair together and just started talking. It was our first real conversation and we could both feel a connection. The conversation flowed so easily and we had so many things in common. When it came time for us to rotate to our next stations around the pool, Nick waved the other guards around us so that we could keep talking. He did this for the WHOLE SHIFT! Neither of us took a break for the entire night swim. Seven years later, we still have that connection and I am so excited for our future!Darian

I knew after their engagement session, that their wedding would not only be fun, but romantic. If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for a little romance.
Their wedding took place at a cabin like venue called Knotty Pine, just outside of Des Moines. The walls brought so much texture and warmth to the space. The fireplace, though a June wedding it was not needed, was a beautiful backdrop for the head table. And the fields behind the building were the perfect setting for their post-ceremony bridal session as they decided to forego a first look.
Though the ceremony was moved inside, due to a potential storm, the day went on; and with beautiful cloud coverage if I may say so myself. Regardless, Darian and Nick were surrounded by their family and friends during an intimate ceremony. After an amazing taco buffet, Darian surprised Nick with her rendition of Daydreamer by Adele. Then the party started and ended with a very fill dance floor.
Not sure about you, but I see a lot of Romantic Des Moines Weddings in my future.
A Note from the Couple
“Hello future married couples! I would like to start by saying that I have all of you in my thoughts as these crazy times just keep getting crazier. While there are probably no words that can truly repair the damage done by this pandemic, I do want to offer some words of encouragement. As I look back, almost a year after my wedding, I think about the things that were the most important and memorable from that day. What mattered most, and still does matter most to me from that day was marrying my person. It wasn’t who was there to see it or what we ate or even where we were. It was the feeling of love that day. I know that a lot of you are having to make different arrangements that aren’t exactly what you pictured your day to be like, but you will always have that feeling of love to remember.”
