In a world where authenticity can sometimes seem elusive, Taylor and Kevin’s wedding served as a testament to the enduring presence of genuine magic. Against the enchanting backdrop of Des Moines, Iowa’s World Food Prize Hall of Laureates, their wedding unfolded as a truly extraordinary event. Beyond the exchange of vows and rings, this heartfelt celebration resonated with authentic enchantment, offering a sincere glimpse into the unique bond and individuality of Taylor and Kevin. Their love, expressed in the details of the ceremony, reflected not only a commitment to each other but also an authentic expression of who they are as individuals.
In the spring of 2013, Kevin and Taylor’s love story unfolded during Greek Week in college. Their connection deepened after winning a Lip Sync competition, spending the after party discovering shared passions. Over the summer, they maintained their bond through Skype, even with Kevin in Indiana.
A surprise proposal atop the Iowa State Capitol Dome marked the beginning of the next chapter in their relationship. Taylor’s father, well-versed in the Capitol from his work, helped arrange a special tour. At the highest point, with a breathtaking view, Kevin asked Taylor to be his, forever.
Taylor had a distinct vision when she approached us to photograph her and Kevin’s wedding. “We want to capture our special moments in an authentic way,” she shared, and I wholeheartedly embraced this sentiment. With the expert guidance of their wedding planner, Lori Evans of Bliss Events, Taylor and Kevin planned every detail to align with their unique style and personality. Their clear contentment made capturing moments as a photographer seamless!
The World Food Prize Hall of Laureates provided the ideal blend of classic and romantic vibes for Taylor and Kevin’s special day. The historic charm of the venue, coupled with the couple’s carefully curated decor, elevated the ambiance to a new level of elegance; The old-world charm of the Hall along with the rich color palette was simply beautiful. The tables were decorated with lovely flower arrangements, featuring pretty gold accents. However, it was the fairy tale staircases located within the Hall that became my favorite photo backdrop!
Yet, the attire is what pulled it all together! In the world of elegance, Taylor and Kevin radiated grace and style. The groom and groomsmen looked dapper in their black tuxedos. The bridesmaids, dressed in emerald green silk dresses, added the perfect touch of elegance. Taylor, the radiant bride, was stunning in her wedding gown. The gown’s delicate sleeves hung gracefully off her shoulders, evoking a sense of vintage glamor that perfectly mirrored the classic surroundings.
Crafting a wedding that resonates with your genuine selves is a cornerstone in celebrating your love. After all, it’s not just about having the fanciest flowers, music, and decor; it’s an expression of your shared values, dreams, and the journey you’ve shared together thus far. Every detail, from the decorations to the vows you exchange, is an opportunity to let your personalities shine through. Taylor and Kevin’s wedding proved just that! Looking back on their special day, we were reminded that the most beautiful love stories truly are the ones that are deeply personal, reflecting the authentic essence of the couple at the heart of it all.
