Natalie and Nic met during their Freshman year high school engineering class. Quickly they became friends, however, it wasn’t until their sophomore year of high school that they began dating. We love a high school sweethearts type of love. It wasn’t until several years later that Nic decided it was time to pop the question. There was just one problem, he hadn’t asked her parents for permission yet. On a solo one-day trip, Nic flew to Des Moines and back to ask for her parent’s permission. It was on December 19th on a ski trip when Nic got to one knee and proposed to Natalie with a ring that was in a bag of tissues. Safe to say he knew what was coming next! Now here we are celebrating their love with The Tea Room Wedding in Des Moines, Iowa and we couldn’t have been more excited.

Natalie & Nic’s Tea Room Wedding in Des Moines, Iowa

For Natalie and Nic, the most important thing for them was to have their wedding be the perfect blend of fun and elegance. They were wanting their wedding day to be intentional and 100% authentically them. Safe to say, I think we did a great job. Natalie and Nic kept a neutral color palette while incorporating hints of blue into their bridesmaid’s dresses. They had a beautiful first-look moment at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, where they both got ready. Naturally, we had to bring along a box of tissues to secure the tears during this sweet and intimate moment.

From there, we made our way to the St. Ambrose Cathedral for their traditional church ceremony. Surrounded by close family and friends they exchanged their heartfelt vows and it was just so beautiful! While tradition stayed true during their ceremony, they left the scene with a bangin’ grand exit that proved bird seed is almost always a good idea. For their reception, The Tea Room was decked out to the nine’s and reminded us that a solid color palette, beautiful florals, and good decor can go a long way. It was here that we were met with champagne towers, tear-jerking first dances, and delicious cake slices by Glorious Desserts being consumed. A rather perfect way to end these high-school sweethearts love story and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
